Off to Neverland: Part 2

Today was the second part of the Peter Pan photo shoot.  I'm going to be completely honest when I say, it was AWESOME.  We all had fun, lots of laughing. Super cool.  I won't have any of the pictures from today until a little later this week, but I'll post them as soon as I get them.

The success of today's shoot was due in large part to the incomparable Matt Kemple.  Matt was joining us today as Captain James T. Hook and was super fun to have on set.  I can't wait to show you a few of the pictures we have of him in all his pirate glory. (Matt is a local performer who heads up the Milwaukee Comedy scene.  Check out more on that here: Milwaukee Comedy )
Several people  who had known Matt was taking on the role had expressed that they felt he might be too young looking as Hook.  However, when I sat down to think about what I wanted in a villain this time around I was looking for someone who was almost as boy-like as Peter.  Somehow that seemed to make him more terrifying to me, the idea that he and Peter are so similar.  They just happen to have very different issues, Peter is of course afraid of the future and a bit of a thrill seeker.  While Hook is more in that murdery pliagey kind of a place.

On a Chris likes to terrify Liz note.  Chris was two hours late to the shoot today.  This information is not really relevant to the post on the whole, but I feel a public reprimand is in order.  I'm telling you people it's a good thing he's so gosh darn adorable.

And last, but certainly not least Jason Waszak was back for the shoot today in two respects.  The first being that he was kind enough to lend us his attic for the innards of the Jolly Rodger.  He and I spent something like a half and hour to fourty-five minutes set dressing yesterday afternoon so all was good to go today.  Jason also was featured in one or two photos as Smee.  He was a joy as always.

I also have a few shots from that last shoot that I'll include in this post.I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were some really cool pictures from that last shoot as well.  Like...

From the Adventures of Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
...Certainly Wendy had been dreaming.
But Wendy had not been dreaming, as the very next night showed, the night on which the extraordinary adventures of these children may be said to have begun...

...The window was blown open by the breathing of the little stars, and Peter dropped in...

...Second to the right, and straight on till morning...
...That, Peter had told Wendy, was the way to the Neverland; but even birds, carrying maps and consulting them at windy corners, could not have sighted it with these instructions. Peter, you see, just said anything that came into his head...

..."Pirates!" he cried. The others came closer to him. A strange smile was playing about his face, and Wendy saw it and shuddered...

That's all for now.  Come back for the third and final installment of Off to Neverland!

  1. These are lovely images. They are ravishing to look at and make the story come alive. And I don't like Peter Pan at all! :)
